Vertigo & Dizziness
Accurate Diagnosis with State-of-the-Art Vesticam Goggles
The most common cause is a disruption to the vestibular system in the inner ear. Our Vestibular Physiotherapists undergo comprehensive training and use state-of-the-art Vesticam Goggles to accurately diagnose and treat these conditions.
What to Expect
During your consultation, your physiotherapist will perform a series of tests to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. This targeted approach is crucial because while the inner ear is often the culprit (such as with BPPV), other causes can be linked to migraines, trauma, or changes in the neck.
Once the reason for your vertigo or dizziness has been determined, your physiotherapist will develop a tailored treatment plan, which may include:
- Canalith Repositioning Manoeuvres: Specific head movements performed to reposition displaced calcium crystals (otoconia) back to where they belong if BPPV is diagnosed.
- Vestibular Rehabilitation: Exercises to help your brain compensate for inner ear issues.
- Treatment for Neck/Postural Disorders: Addressing stiffness and muscle tension in the neck and shoulders that can contribute to your symptoms.
What to Expect
- If you experience a sensation of spinning, rocking, or swaying.
- If your vertigo is triggered by specific head movements and lasts only a few seconds.
- If you’re having regular episodes of dizziness or light-headedness.
